BOOK OF NEHEMIAH – STUDY NOTES (4/16/20)

PRAYER, PREPARATION & PARTNERSHIP – WK 3

 

I.               Prayer, Preparation and Partnership

c.     The Favor of God, in partnership with YOUR obedience, guarantees access to purpose.

 

              i.     Nehemiah 2:7-9                                  Nehemiah gets letters from the King

              ii.     Genesis 50:20                                   Joseph saves his people

              iii.     Matthew 16:13-20                              Peter is named the Rock

  

BACKGROUND REFERENCE: NEHEMIAH 2:9-20; 3:1-32

·       King Artaxerxes grants Nehemiah above and beyond what was originally requested.

·       Nehemiah shares with the People his conversations with God and his intent to fortify the wall.

·       Nehemiah denounces his enemies’ legitimacy and jurisdiction over the Lord’s work.

·       Nehemiah presents a systematic approach to building the wall. 

·       Nehemiah employs religious, government and tribal leaders to participate in the building process.

·       Although several units built multiple sections, understand that everyone shares the work credit.

 

LESSON NOTES

1.     THE FAVOR OF GOD CAUSES MAN TO ACT IN YOUR FAVOR (Nehemiah 2:7-9)

a.     King Artaxerxes gives letters for materials needed to build    Neh. 2:7-9

b.     The king’s favor is toward a wise man                                  Prov. 14:35

c.      Remaining steadfast to your holy regimen sustains Favor      Dan. 1:6-9; 10-17

Question #1 – How important is it to obtain favor from Man…or have a trustworthy reputation?

Question #2 – How does a person prove they’re wise…and how important is it to reveal?

Question #3 – What does Daniel’s promise in Dan. 1:8 suggest to us today?

Question #4 – What have you purposed in your heart to God that you have/have not kept?

2.     THE FAVOR OF GOD PRODUCES VICTORY TO ALL CONNECTED TO YOU (Genesis 50:20)

a.     Godly bloodlines continue because to your faithfulness        Gen. 50:20

b.     Obed-Edom and all his household are blessed                      2 Sam. 6:1-11

c.      The Jews were saved because of Esther and Mordecai        Esther 8:3-8

Question #1 – Have you ever feel like the trial that you endure are for others?

Question #2 – Is it fair for Obed-Edom’s household to benefit from Uzziah’s mistake?

Question #3 – Have you walked through your fear to perform God’s Will?

Question #4 – Do we believe people connected to us have victory? How does that work?

 

3.     THE FAVOR OF GOD CHANGES YOUR LIFE’S TRAJECTORY (Matthew 16:13-20)

a.     Experience is better than association…life changing              Matt. 16:13-20

b.     Confidence in God leads to great victory and greater praise  Psalm 20; Psalm 21

c.      You are commissioned with authority by Jesus Christ            Eph. 2:19-22

Question #1 – Have you ever gone with the crowd instead of stood alone?

Question #2 – What would happen in our lives if we truly believed God’s Word?

Question #3 – When Jesus Christ entered your life, He gave you authority.  Are you using it?

Question #4 – What part do we play in someone else’s salvation?

NEXT WEEK’S LESSON: VISION CASTING - WK 4

 a.     God gives the Visionary vision; but He gives PEOPLE to execute the vision.
