VISION CASTING, DEFEATING VISION KILLERS and RE-CASTING VISION – WK 4

 

II.             VISION CASTING

a.     God gives the Visionary visions; but He gives them PEOPLE to execute the vision.

         i.     Nehemiah 2:18-20                              The People caught the vision

         ii.     Nehemiah 3:1-32                                Work divided into sections

        iii.     Exodus 18:13-27                                 Jethro gives blueprint to Moses

 

BACKGROUND REFERENCE: NEHEMIAH 3:1-32; EXODUS 18:1-27; ACTS 6:1-7;

MATTHEW 10:1-4; LUKE 6:13-16

·       Nehemiah presents a systematic approach to building the wall. 

·       Nehemiah employs religious, government and tribal leaders to participate in the building process.

·       Although several units built multiple sections, understand that everyone shares the work credit.

·       Moses takes Jethro’s advice and selects qualified, able men to govern over fractions of people.

·       Disciples select godly men to administer the business of the Church.

·       Jesus gives power to His Disciples to carry out physical and spiritual works before the People.

1.     VISION CASTING MOTIVATES ACTION FROM THE PEOPLE (Nehemiah 2:18-20)

a.     Nehemiah testifies of God’s Favor and the King’s response   Neh. 2:18-20

b.     David persuades the Men of Valor to prepare for battle        2 Sam. 2:7

c.      Caleb recounts his dedication to Moses; possesses his land   Josh 14:6-15

Question #1 – Is it difficult or easy for People of God to follow Visionaries today?

Question #2 – How challenging is change and transition for you?

Question #3 – Do visions or prophetic word from your past still ignite you?  Share…

Question #4 – Are you utilizing your gifts, abilities & resources to build up the People of God?

 

2.     VISION CASTING REQUIRES SYSTEMATIC ALIGNMENT FROM ALL (Nehemiah 3:1-32)

a.     Nehemiah develops systematic plan for the People of God   Neh. 3:1-32

b.     Moses consecrates and sets in place guidelines for Priests    Lev. 8:1-10:20

c.      Jesus instructs the Disciples at The Last Supper                    Luke 22:7-23

 Question #1 – Is it difficult or easy for People of God to work together systematically?

Question #2 – Why is it so critically important to have instructions and guidelines in Church?

Question #3 – Is the meaning of The Last Supper nullified if not followed exactly?

Question #4 – Can the Visionary’s vision still be manifested without a project plan?

 

3.     VISION CASTING PRODUCES HUMILITY AND PERSPECTIVE (Exodus 18:13-27)

a.     Jethro provides the blueprint for leadership delegation        Exod. 18:13-27

b.     David becomes a “Pit Praiser” (i.e. praise God in the pit)       Psalm 40:2-3

c.      Paul describes why he is “all things to all men”                     1 Corin. 9:19-27

Question #1 – How does it make you feel when one person hoards all action items?

Question #2 – What does “sacrifice of praise” look like in your life?  How do you present it?

Question #3 – What do you base the work of the Church on?  What is your focus?

Question #4 – Do we understand our role in Legacy’s Vision?  Do we understand the vision?
